EC: Direct Cash Transfer only after state polls end

The Election Commission has also asked the government to defer the implementation of the Direct Cash Transfer scheme in four districts of Gujarat and two in Himachal Pradesh. Himachal went to the polls last month, but the model code of conduct is on till December 20. Gujarat will go to the polls on December 13 and December 17. The EC says the government should have maintained the letter and spirit of the model code of conduct.
