Apart from the FDI debate, an anecdote.

An elderly Congress member was caught unawares and fumbled today in the Lok Sabha when he was asked by the Chair to read out his question, leading to jibes from the opposition benches.

During Question Hour, Speaker Meira Kumar asked Mohammad Asrarul Haque to read out his starred question on development of agriculture in backward states.

"What is the question number? Where is it?" Haque was heard asking the member seated next to him. With the mike on, the whole House heard him and the BJP members took potshots. Ninong Ering, Minister of State for Minority Affairs, helped Haque with a Hindi version of the questions.

With the Opposition members booing him, the Speaker had to intervene. "He is a very senior member. You should not speak like this. He is a respected member," Kumar said.
