Gangster/politician Arun Gawli gets life term

Gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli gets life imprisonment. The gangster-turned politician and 11 others were convicted for the murder of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar last week.
During arguments on sentencing, the once feared underworld don told Special Judge Pritiviraj Chavan there was no reason for him to kill Jamsandekar for a "paltry" amount of Rs 30 lakh.
The court also convicted eleven others accused while the sentence will be pronounced on August 27. One of the accused, Bala Surve, died during trial, while three accused were acquitted for lack of evidence.
