Did NOT leak Niira Radia tapes, govt tells SC

Just in: The central govt rejects before the Supreme Court the allegation that the tapped conversations of Niira Radia was leaked by it. The Centre on Thursday informed the Supreme Court that it had destroyed the entire Radia tapes, publication of excerpts from which threw the spotlight on ways of doing business as well as the tendency of security agencies to violate privacy of citizens.

The SC pulled up the government today for not putting in place a mechanism to prevent such leakage of tapped conversation. "The probe report on Radia tape leakage is hardly satisfactory," the SC told the government.
