Assam violence: Bodo MLA Pradeeep Brahma arrested

Assam MLA Pradeep Brahma from Bodoland People's Front has been arrested by the state police for his alleged involvement in the ethnic violence on Thursday. Brahma was arrested from Kokrajhar.

The protestors blocked railway tracks across the state following the arrest of the MLA, demanding his release.

Brahma was held after seven cases were registered against him in Fakiragram and Dotama police stations in Kokrajhar district, Inspector General of Police LR Bishnoi said.

BPF, led by its chief Hagrama Mihilary, is in power in the Bodoland Territorial Council that runs the four Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts. The party is also a partner in the state's Congress-led government.
