Mamata to attend allies' meet, FDI in retail on agenda

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is in Delhi to attend a meeting of the newly-formed UPA coordination committee. The committee, which includes Sonia Gandhi and the PM, is an effort by the UPA to project a united picture in the run-up to the 2014 general elections, reports NDTV.

Several issues on which there have been disagreements between the government and Banerjee are expected to be discussed in the meeting. Top of the agenda are Foreign Direct Investment in various sectors, fuel price hike, reduction of oil and fertilizer subsidies and the Telangana issue.

The Trinamool Congress chief had skipped the last coordination committee meeting in early August.
