Patino says Ecuador has looked at the evidence in the Assange case specifically in the context of the accused saying he feared for his personal security, life and liberty. Patino said if Assange was in fact extradited to the US, it was unlikely he would get a fair trial. The foreign minister added that if Assange is extradited to Sweden, it would set off a chain of events that would see him stand trial in the US.
