We averted '1992-like' situation: Mumbai top cop
August 14, 2012  09:25
Mumbai Police Commissioner Arup Patnaik has said that the city's police force managed to avert a "1992-like situation" by reacting promptly to the violence that broke out on Saturday during a protest rally.

Two people were killed when protesters, who were part of a rally against Assam violence, suddenly turned violent.

Patnaik added that the police will treat the probe into the incident with the same importance it would accord to a terror strike investigation.
