Cong wants to 'study' steal, don't loot comment

The Congress is yet to comment on Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department Minister Shivpal Yadav's bizarre advice to state officials, saying it would speak on it only after studying the statement.

Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said that he has not yet seen the statement made by Shivpal Yadav. "I have not seen the statement. Till that time, we do not take cognizance of the statement. I don't think it would be appropriate to comment on it," he said.

Shivpal Yadav, however, today made a U-turn on his "steal a little" comment, and accused the media of misquoting him.  Shivpal said he was talking about the preceding Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Government.

"Media didn't release the full quote. I was talking about the former BSP government," Yadav told media here. "The press was not supposed to be present in the meeting," he added.
