April 24, 2012  16:38

The CPI today appealed to Maoists to unconditionally release abducted Sukuma District Collector Alex Paul Menon and asked Chattisgarh government to do everything possible to achieve a breakthrough.  "Targeting civilian officers, people's representatives and their security guards who are on duty is meaningless and unhuman activity.

Maoists should stop this type of abductions and killings and respect human values," the party said. Menon is not well and needs immediate medical attention. He should be released on human considerations immediately, the
party's Central Secretariat said in a statement.
