SC: Detention of mentally ill Pakistanis painful
April 10, 2012  11:26
The Supreme Court today expressed displeasure over the detention of Pakistani
prisoners, who have served sentences and are mentally unsound, in Indian jails. The SC says that such detention of mentally challenged persons "pains us" and seeks a response from the Centre on why 21 prisoners who were mentally unsound or deaf and dumb are not being repatriated to their country. Such cases should be discussed on priority basis when top authorities of the 2 nations meet, SC says referring to recent visit of Pak President.
