2G note: Chidambaram offers to quit at Sonia meet

Just in: Home minister P Chidambaram offers to quit after meeting with Sonia Gandhi on the 2G note. At the meeting, he explained his stand on the issue and said he did not want to embarass the party. In fact, the moment the issue was outed, Chidambaram had also offered his resignation to the PM, when he called from New York. The PM, who was at the UNGA told him to have patience and wait till he was back in India. Dr Singh will be in India on Wednesday morning.
