Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi nears the end of his three-day fast for promoting communal harmony. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray who met Modi in Ahmedabad today said he supported his bid for becoming Prime Minister.

Thackeray said, "I will support Narendra Modi for becoming Prime Minister. This country needs good governance and a good leader. The fast of Narendra Modi is entirely different from the reasons being quoted by other people."

Modi began a "harmony fast" on Saturday to soften his image as a hardliner blamed for religious riots that claimed thousands of lives.
