So how much is Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh really worth? Recently the prime minister put up the list of assets owned by him and his council of ministers, in which he had mentioned the value of the property owned by him in posh Vasant Kunj area as Rs 88.67 lakhs.

Blogging on Wall Street Journal's India Real Time, Shefali Anand, says that real estate brokers however rate the value of such a flat to be in the region of Rs 2 crores. A broker, Ravi Shukla, has been quoted as saying that if the prime minister wants to sell the property for twice the value mentioned in his affidavit, he would find buyers "in two days".

Not only does the property not reflect current market trends, it has also not taken into consideration the growth in the real estate values in the national capital, since the previous declared value for the property was not very different either.

A spokerperson in the prime minister's office refused to comment on this, she writes.
