In a meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, president of Telangana Rashtra Samiti K Chandrasekhar Rao has requested him to expedite the Telangana statehood issue as early as possible.

Rao said that a memorandum has been given to the PM and he has been requested to intervene in the matter.Though Dr Singh didn't give any clear-cut assurances, Rao said the PM had urged pro-Telangana activists to call off their strike.

"We said it is not in our hands. The people are very angry in Telangana," he said.

The TRS chief said the general strike will not end till the Centre announced the formation of Telangana state along with a definite time-frame and road-map.
