HC refuses bail to Kanimozhi, next hearing on Monday

OK, finally, here it is. The Delhi High Court has denied bail to DMK MP Kanimozhi today. The bail plea hearing will be now be heard on Monday. Kanimozhi has been in jail since the last six months. The other accused whose bail plea was heard today include Kalaignar TV MD Sharad Kumar, former telecom secretary Siddharth Behura, Bollywood producer Karim Morani and Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables directors Asif Balwa and Rajiv Agarwal.

It may be recollected that the high court earlier said that bail cannot be granted on grounds of parity. In essence, Kani and the others had filed an application for an early hearing of the bail after the five corporates were granted bail this week. The bail plea was initially to be heard on December 1.
