Top Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh's coach Amritinder Singh was on Tuesday forced to remove his turban by security officials for the second time at the same Milan airport where he had to endure a painful ordeal last week. Amritinder, who was travelling with Jeev for the Sicillian Open, was rudely told on March 15 by Milan airport security officials that he could either remove the turban or not board the flight which led to protest from the Indian government.
Despite the expression of "regret" from Italy on that episode, the security officials of the same airport again asked Amritinder to remove his turban or miss the flight, which left Jeev and his coach stunned. Amritinder showed a letter of apology from the Italian Golf Federation on what happened last week but to no avail.

After US arrogance, comes news that US intelligence experts have said that Muammar Gaddafi has dangerous weapons, but no longer has the means to launch a terror attack.
Aformer senior US intelligence official said, "He's been out of this business a long time so whether he's retained the capability is an open question. Whether he can resuscitate it, I think, is an even bigger question."
God of all things --US President Barack Obama -- has asserted that it is America's policy that the Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi must go. And a threat -- his administration has multiple tools tools to ensure that this goal is achieved.
"It is US policy that Gaddafi needs to go. We have got a wide range of tools in addition to our military efforts to support that policy. We were very rapid in initiating unilateral sanctions and then helping to mobilize international sanctions against the Gaddafi regime," the US President said.

From Indonesia comes news that almost sounds like a All Fools Day joke, but isn't.

When I read Hindu newspaperexcerptsof Karan Thapar's interview with the former foreign secretary and (former?) special envoy Shyam Saran, I thought Thapar's eagle's eye spotted the wrong guy this time around on the IIC lawns.
The secretary dealing with Iran should have been the one to authoritatively speak on Iran. And Saran wasn't that secretary. It was Rajiv Sikri. From the interview with Thapar, it appears Saran doesn't even seem to know that MEA's own recommendation to the PMO was exactly the opposite of what India eventually did at the IAEA when it voted against Iran - namely, India should not vote against Iran.
Maybe Thapar should interveiew Sikri? But then Sikri is living in quiet retirement and he has no post-retirement obligations to anyone on Raisina Hill and he may not even oblige.

Nuclear enabled countries have been doing security checks post Fukushima. This is the scene in Pakistan.

Absolutely lovely read on the famous first lines of technology.
The bbc.co.uk digs this up. Twitter launched five years ago with the simple message "just setting up my twttr". In the same way, many technological breakthroughs that ultimately shaped the world began life, not with a fanfare of trumpets, but with a few humble words. "Alright, so here we are in front of the elephants."
Phishing attacks and hoax-alerts to gain access to account details of individuals who have filed their Income Tax returns online are on the rise.
This is how it works. An email is sent to a number of people, saying IT refund is available. Once it is clicked, the user is directed to a website that looks like that of IT dept. And there, they ask you to disclose your personal financial details in a form.
That information will end up with a scammer who can empty your credit card or bank account in no time.
Careful.

Even as the Opposition brings up Libya in Parliament (only to condemn the coalition stand and say that the government should be more vocal in their disapproval), here comes news from Russia. India, Russia, China are against airstrikes on Libya.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev yesterday slammed Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's comments on military action against Libya as "unacceptable", in the most public clash yet between Russia's ruling tandem.
Putin had earlier blasted the UN resolution allowing military action on Libya as resembling a "medieval call to crusade", in one of his most virulent diatribes against the West in years.
"Under no circumstances is it acceptable to use expressions which essentially lead to a clash of civilisations. Such as 'crusade' and so on," Medvedev said.
"It is unacceptable. Otherwise, everything may end up much worse compared to what's going on now. Everyone should remember that," Medvedev said.
May be the coalition forces need a lesson history. The Muslims, not the Christians, won the Crusades.
Time to pop the champagne.Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee has announced a roll back of the healthcare service tax or misery tax in the Lok Sabha today. The tax was supposed to mop up Rs 500 crore.
In the Union Budget for 2011-12, thefin min had proposed to impose a service tax of five per cent on all services, including diagnostic services, provided by a centrally air-conditioned clinical establishments having more than 25 beds for in-patient treatment.

Big day for former Israeli President Moshe Katsav. He will learn today whether he will go to jail on a rape conviction in a case that has already made history in Israel.
AP reports that the former head of state is the highest-ranking Israeli official ever to be convicted of a crime. He faces up to 16 years in prison.
His conviction was seen as a victory for the Israeli legal system and for women's rights in a decades-long struggle to chip away at the nation's macho culture, which once permitted political and military leaders great liberties.
Japan's earthquake-cum-tsunami hit Fukushima nuclear plant reportedly had one of the country's worst safety records and had a excess stock of uranium rods when the quake rocked the nation.

Pranab Mukherjee: Heaven is not going to fall if finance bill is discussed first.
Congress: We give utmost respect to the Opposition
LK Advani: Opposition should be allowed to speak. We are not stalling finance bill.
Left: Want discussion PM's statement.
Late in the day, but here's what a privilege notice or motion means.
It's basically a motion or a notice that is granted precedence over other matters in Parliament. It is therefore a matter of urgencythat needs to be discussed forwith.
The BJP, which has moved theprivilege motion against the PM, wants the cash for votes issue to bediscussed before the finance bill is discussed. TheCongress wants it the other way round.
You need toremember that the budget session of Parliament ends in three days on March 25. This means the finance bill has to be approved by the LS, sent on to the RS and then given the stamp of approval by the President.
The Congress is therefore buying time by demanding that the finance bill be passed first. Parliamentary Affairs minister Pawan Kumar Bansal says it is in the nation's interest to see the finance bill is passed.

Sushma Swaraj is our newsmaker of the morning for moving a privilege notice against the PM in Parliament today. As vociferous in LS as outside it...
BJPSushma Swaraj: There are 3 gossip items about me in HindustanTimes today. One is that Prime Minister hosted a dinner for me and my family at his residence.
Well, the dinner and details are all imaginary. The correct news is that I am moving a privilege motion against the Prime Minister today.
The next item that I wanted to skip Election Committee meeting and Advaniji persuaded me to attend is also false.
BJP leader Sushma Swaraj has served a privilege notice in the Lok Sabha against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on his statement on the Wikileaks revelation on the 2008 trust motion.
The privilege notice is for "misleading" the Parliament on the cash-for-vote episode. The party also demands a discussion on the matter.
The PM while explaining the cash-for-vote issue had asserted on the floor of the House that a Parliamentary committee which went into the 2008 cash-for-vote issue had concluded that there was insufficient evidence to draw any conclusion of bribery was "completely at variance with truth".
