June 30, 2011  11:52

An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter Scale rattled central Japan today, causing alarm and panic in a nation that is yet to get over the trauma of the earthquake-generated tsunami of March 2011.

The Japan Meteorological Agency has been quoted as saying that the quake struck Nagano, almost 200 km north-west of Tokyo. No tsunami warning has so far been issued.
