Maria, Jerome get light convictions

Toral Varia reports: The Mumbai sessions court pronounces actress Maria Susairaj and naval officer Jerome Mathew guilty of murdering TV executive Neeraj Grover.

Jerome has been convicted of culpable homicide not amounting to murder while Maria Susairaj has been convicted under Section 201 of the IPC for destruction of evidence.

The sessions court has set aside the prosecution's theory of conspiracy to kill Neeraj Grover. The judge has relied heavily on Susairaj's confession coupled with the circumstantial evidence.
