World's 1st strawberries and cream sandwiches

Not particularly well known for their cuisine, Britain could well change that with the worlds first strawberries and cream sandwiches which go on sale today to celebrate what is undoubtedly British -- Wimbledon.

Retail giant Tesco is serving sweet sarnies, which will be stocked by hundreds of stores. The snack, made of poppy seed bread is stuffed with clotted cream, fruit and jam.

Incidentally, it's always been tradition to savour strawberries and cream at Wimbledon and this is just a variant.

The treat, priced at a pound, will be sold in Union Jack packaging to support tennis star Andy Murray.
