Even little alcohol can be fatal for driving

No, not even a peg is OK if you're going to be driving, so stop kidding yourself.

A new study has ruled that no amount of alcohol is safe for driving, contradicting the blood-alcohol limit set by the US at 0.08 pc.

Researchers from the University of California examined the official data from the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) to arrive at the number of accidents caused due to the influence of alcohol.

All the accidents included in FARS were, by definition, severe. But the researchers looked at different levels of accident severity by examining the ratio of severe injuries to minor ones.

"Accidents are 36.6 pc more severe even when alcohol was barely detectable in a driver''s blood,' said David Phillips, of University of California.
