Our correspondent Sahim Salim adds: Not leaving anything to chance, the Delhi police have made adequate arrangements at the Ramlila Maidan. The men in khaki are everywhere -- at the entrance, inside the maidan, around the grounds. Some of them are dressed in anti-riot gear.

According to sources, at least 5,000 police personnel have been deployed here.

Several platoons of paramilitary personnel, including those of the Central Reserve Police Force and the Rapid Action Force, are present at the site.

Baba Ramdev has left the Ramlila Maidan, the venue of his fast against corruption, stating that he is taking a two hour break to hold talks with representatives of the government.

The venue of the meeting between Baba Ramdev and government officials is not known yet.

Baba assured his followers that he would continue his agitation till all his demands are met by the government. The yoga guru said that unless the government agreed to adhere to his demands and gave it in writing, he would not back down.

Gandhian Anna Hazare on Saturday said that he had not made a final decision about joining Baba Ramdev's fast against corruption on Delhi.

Our correspondent Sahim Salim, who is at Ground Zero of all the action at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, shared this interesting update with us:

While addressing the crowd, Devgi Nandan Thakur, one of the speakers, claimed that Baba Ramdev was ten steps ahead of Mahatma Gandhi.

"Gandhiji's fight was easy, but Ramdev's is not," Thakur told the crowd.

Right after Thakur completed his speech, Baba Ramdev asked for the microphone and told his supporters that the speaker had made an 'emotional' statement and it should not be taken verbatim.

"Gandhi is and will always remain an inspiration for the masses," said Baba Ramdev.

The presence of RSS and VHP workers at the venue of Baba Ramdev's fast is threatening to become a major controversy.

Anti-corruption activist Swami Agnivesh on Saturday voiced his displeasure about the presence of VHP leader Sadhvi Rithambara at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, where Baba Ramdev began his fast against corruption on Saturday morning.

"I am uncomfortable sharing the platform with communal forces," he told a TV channel.

The protest was interrupted briefly after a senior journalist urged the press personnel to stop coverage, as Baba Ramdev's volunteers were reportedly harassing them.

Baba Ramdev, who witnessed the commotion, apologised to the press and instructed his volunteers to not harass media personnel.

10:35   Satyagrah: 'Health benefits for fat people'
Ramdev arrived at the site at 4.50 am, accompanied by saffron-clad monks as well as radical Sangh Parivar leader Sadhvi Ritambhara and Muslim and Sikh religious leaders.

It was almost a one-man show by Ramdev who conducted the proceedings, which were interspersed with yoga demonstrations, discourse and music with a bit of humour to spice up the proceedings.

Ramdev was at his humorous best when he told his followers that the hunger strike will help them in two ways.

"Hamara mota bhai aur moti baheno ke liye yeh satyagrah health benefits dega aur desh ke liye wealth mil jayega" (while the hunger strike will help slim fat brothers and sisters, it will also bring wealth to the country)".

When a follower gave him a Rs 11 lakh cheque, he quipped, "Take photos, this is not black money".
