MoEF nod to Posco project under pressure: CPI-M

Opposing the use of force for acquiring land for setting up Posco's mega steel plant near Paradip, CPI-M Politburo member Brinda Karat today claimed the
forest clearance for the project was accorded under pressure and not according to provisions of law.
"The Union Ministry of Environment and Forests gave forest clearance to Posco project despite adverse reports by two central committees. What is the need for law if projects are cleared on the basis of lobbying," she said.
