Operation Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Delhi (BAD) announced the arrival of the Indian Mujahideen. Although this outfit is an offshoot of the Students Islamic Movement of India had carried out blasts at a court in Uttar Pradesh, it was operation BAD which put the IM on the world terror map.

The police were led to believe that this organisation is on the back foot and therefore investigations continued to take place at a snail's pace -- which is precisely why the IM could regroup and possibly carry out today's terror attack.
