2G-tainted Dayanidhi Maran to quit at 3 pm

Union textiles minister Dayanidhi Maran is now meeting PM Manmohan Singh in the aftermath of the Cabinet meeting at 7RCR. Bottom dollar bet that the PM will discussing Maran's resignation at the one-on-one meeting. The Cabinet meeting, however, is still on.

The meeting, as we suggested earlier, was indeed his last as a minister. Maran will step down at 3 pm today, says our Delhi correspondent. The PM has been under pressure to ask Maran to quit ever since his name came up in the 2G scam.

Our Delhi correspondent also says that Maran left the Cabinet meeting just as it discussed the modalities of FM radio licences. Hmmm.
