Soon... platform tickets on your phone

Our Delhi correspondent reports that the railways plan to encourage people buy platform tickets by using their mobile phone in the same manner in which it now allows the train reservation through the cellphone.

A SMS message on your mobile giving details of the platform ticket including the expiry time will be accepted as the platform ticket.

This will put an end to the serpentine queues before the platform windows and save the railways costs in terms of paper and printing of tickets and manpower.
