Anna eats poha, watches news in hospital

Anna Hazare health update.

Doctors treating Anna Hazare, who has been undergoing treatment at the Medanta Mediciti hospital in Gurgaon after ending his 12-day fast say it will take another four to five days before he can be discharged. "He is doing well and is stable. He has also started taking soft diet and today he ate poha," Dr Yatin Mehta, who is monitoring 74-year-old Hazare's health, said.

"He walked for sometime in his room. His blood pressure is 124/84 and pulse rate is 78 beats per minute," the doctor said. Mehta said ketones in his urine have reduced which is a "good sign".

The doctor added, "He has not read newspapers but has seen some news bulletins on TV. His spirits are high." The doctor said his weight stood at 66.6 kg and it has not reduced since yesterday. "This means his condition is absolutely satisfactory," he said. Hazare, who was admitted in the hospital on Sunday, had weighed 72 kg before he went on his fast.
