Singaporeans curry favour with Indian family
August 22, 2011  14:25
Rallying behind the curry flavour, hundreds of Singaporeans cooked or ate curry dishes to show solidarity with an Indian family who was involved in a
dispute with a Chinese neighbour over its smell. In what swiftly became a curry protest, thousands of Singaporeans came together on Sunday to cook some version of this spicy dish and enjoy it with friends and family, Straitstimes.com reported today.
They did so to be a part of a ground-up call to 'Cook and Share A Pot of Curry', a Facebook event started by freelance writer Florence Leow and her friends after she saw reports of a dispute between an immigrant family from China over the smell of curry from a Singaporean Indian neighbour's home.
Singaporeans say immigrants from China and elsewhere need to get accustomed to the local ways and tastes, which prominently include curry.
