Historic Impeachment of judge set to begin in RS

Just in: Justice Soumitra Sen arrives in Parliament to face impeachment proceedings in Rajya Sabha. The Rajya Sabha is scheduled to discuss a motion for the removal of Justice Sen of the Calcutta High Court. Till date, no judge of the higher judiciary (Supreme Court and High Courts) has been successfully impeached. Sen, who will be the second Judge in independent India to face such a motion for alleged misconduct in misappropriating Rs 42 lakh when he, as a lawyer, had been appointed a receiver by a court of law.
