CCS approves procurement of Tejas jets for IAF

The Cabinet Committee on Security has approved procurement of indigenously developed Tejas aircraft at a cost of about Rs 48,000 crore, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said.

'The CCS, chaired by the PM, today approved the largest indigenous defence procurement deal worth about Rs 48,000 cr to strengthen IAF's fleet of homegrown fighter jet 'LCA-Tejas'.

'This deal will be a game-changer for self-reliance in Indian defence manufacturing,' the defence minister said in a statement.
