Omicron cases reported in Delhi, Guj, AP, Raj

The number of Omicron variant cases in India have gone up to at least 49 so far. The health ministry presser in the evening will give us a clearer picture, but cases have been reported across the length and breadth of the country.

Four more people with travel history to foreign countries test positive for Omicron variant of COVID-19 in Delhi.

A person from Surat who returned from South Africa has tested positive for the new Omicron variant of COVID-19. On November 26, the WHO named the new COVID-19 variant B.1.1.529, which has been detected in South Africa, as 'Omicron'.

In Rajasthan, four more cases have been reported, the health condition of these patients is stable. All previous Omicron cases in the state have tested COVID negative now.

An international traveller from Ireland had tested positive for the Omicron variant on December 11. He had arrived in India on November 27. He has tested negative for Covid after 14 days and is under home quarantine. All his contacts have tested negative," says Director, Health, Andhra Pradesh govt.

Meanwhile, four people have been arrested for providing a false RT-PCR report to a South African national who was later confirmed to be India's first Omicron case. The patient, who was in quarantine, managed to leave the country via Dubai after producing a fake report, DCP Central Bengaluru said.
