Mumbai's Covid tally rises by 9,857 cases

Mumbai on Monday reported 9,857 novel coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, a small dip in cases from Sunday where it recorded 11,163 cases.

The total tally of infections in the financial capital of India rose to 4,62,302, the city civic body said.

With 21 patients succumbing to the COVID-19 infection, the death toll mounted to 11,797, according to the health bulletin.

Amid an unprecedented surge in coronavirus cases across the state, the Maharashtra government has announced new restrictions including a night curfew in the state and a "strict lockdown" over the weekends from Friday 8 pm to Monday 7 am.
