Invitee list to be pruned for PMs I-Day address
May 25, 2020

This year's Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort, New Delhi, will be a scaled down affair, sources in the home ministry have disclosed, given the social distancing norms enforced by the coronavirus pandemic.

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on August 15, the number of invitees is expected to be pruned from the usual 3500 or so that comprises diplomats, military officials and civil servants, the sources said.
