A moderate earthquake, measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale, struck India's northeast region at about 8.15 pm on Monday. 

Initial reports suggest the earthquake's epicentre lay in Manipur. 

Tremors were also felt in Guwahati and other parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram.
