July 20, 2019

JUST IN: Standoff between Priyanka Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh government has ended, the Congress party said on Saturday.

Priyanka is leaving Chunar guesthouse, where she was staying since yesterday, and heading to Varanasi, Congress leader Ajay Rai said.

Priyanka, the Congress general secretary for Uttar Pradesh (East), will be visiting Kashi Vishwanath temple and Kaal Bhairav temple in Varanasi to offer prayers later today.

Earlier, expressing anger over members of the aggrieved families from Sonbhadra being stopped from meeting her, Priyanka said they have come here in 'great grief' and should at least be allowed a meeting.

The Congress general secretary's remark came after 15 family members of Sonbhadra clash victims were stopped from entering the Chunar guesthouse where she spent a night in detention.   -- PTI/ANI
