World number 1 Rafael Nadal scraped into the semi finals of the US Open by defeating Austria's Dominic Thiem in five sets. Nadal won -- 0-6, 6-4, 7-5, 6-7,7-6 against the ninth seeded Austrian Thiem. Nadal will now face Argentina's Juan Martin Del Potro in the semis.
