Steep rise in India's current account deficit

JUST IN: India's current account deficit increases sharply to 2.4 per cent of Gross Domestic Percent in first quarter, from 0.1 per cent a year ago, the Reserve Bank of India said.

The government said that exports rose by 10.29 per cent to $23.81 billion in August.

The trade deficit has been widened to $11.64 billion. -- PTI
