Had Kumble survived, Kohli would have left

Virat Kohli may have resigned as the India captain had the Board of Control for Cricket in India accepted the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC)'s recommendation and given Anil Kumble a further two years as the head coach.

Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and V.V.S. Laxman constitute the CAC and have been empowered to recommend the one most suited. A year ago, the same gentlemen had picked Kumble and ignored Ravi Shastri's credentials. Kohli's quitting would have triggered a fresh crisis, but got averted as Kumble himself chose to withdraw from the position he'd held for the past year. Read more
