Virat Kohli may have resigned as the India captain had the Board of Control for Cricket in India accepted the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC)'s recommendation and given Anil Kumble a further two years as the head coach.

Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and V.V.S. Laxman constitute the CAC and have been empowered to recommend the one most suited. A year ago, the same gentlemen had picked Kumble and ignored Ravi Shastri's credentials.
