The vehicle, carrying pilgrims from the Mehandipur Balaji temple, fell into the Makera canal after the driver lost control, superintendent of police (rural) Aditya Shukla said.  

Eight bodies have been fished out, and efforts are on to trace the remaining bodies, he said.
