BJP warns Congress against 'communalising' lynching cases
July 21, 2017
The BJP on Friday hailed Finance Minister Arun
Jaitley's statement against self-styled cow vigilantes and asked the
Congress party not to communalise the issue.
BJP leader Sanju
Singh said that the Congress should not give the menace of lynching a
religious colour to garner brownie points, and instead should fight the
political battle at the hustings.
"More lynching incidents were
in the Congress regime. But the bigger point is that lynching is
condemnable, the BJP does not endorse any sort of vigilantism and
lawlessness," said Singh.
"Congress is practicing communal
politics. People can see through the façade. I will tell the Congress
that please don't try to gather attention through communal politics.
Please fight the political battle at the hustings," she added.
Echoing
similar sentiments another BJP leader S Prakash urged the Congress to
not play on the lynching issue to score political points.
"Lynching
issue was brought in the Parliament by the political parties to score
points. Jaitley ji categorically states that people challenging law will
be punished," said Prakash.
