Iran's decision comes on the back of President Trump's executive order banning citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States for the next 90 days and suspends the admission of all refugees for 120 days.

Trump banned the entry of Syrian refugees indefinitely pending a security review meant to ensure terrorists cannot slip through vetting.

The 90-day ban on all entry to the U.S. from seven Muslim-majority countries include Syria, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen, Sudan and  Libya.

The official IRNA news agency Saturday carried a statement by the Iranian foreign ministry that says Iran will resort to "counteraction" to Trump's executive order.
