Dinakaran wins RK Nagar bypoll, AIADMK distant second

Sidelined leader TTV Dinakaran has won the RK Nagar bypoll. The AIADMK came in a distant second while the DMK came in third.
Dinakaran won the bypoll by over 40,000 votes. Earlier during counting as he raced ahead of his competitors, Dinakaran had said, "We are the true AIADMK...people of RK Nagar have elected Ammas successor.
The RK Nagar bypoll was necessitated after the demise of former chief minister Jayalalithaa.
