Hizbul Mujahideen designated as Foreign Terrorist Organisation by US
August 16, 2017

US Department of State has designated Hizbul Mujahideen as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation.

Earlier in June ahead of a visit to Washington by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the US had declared Syed Salahuddin, the chief of the terror group, as a global terrorist.

Salahuddin has vowed to continue fighting until India relinquishes control of Kashmir.

The designation blocks any assets the group may have in US jurisdictions and bars Americans from doing business with it.
