Impose President's rule in Uttarakhand: BJP to President
March 26, 2016

Amid political crisis in Uttarakhand, a BJP delegation on Saturday met President Pranab Mukherjee and requested him to impose President's rule in the state.

Earlier, the BJP had demanded dismissal of the Congress government in Uttarakhand citing a "sting operation" in which Chief Minister Harish Rawat is purportedly shown bargaining with rebel party MLAs to win over their support during the floor test in the assembly on March 28.

However, Rawat blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and the rebel MLAs responsible for the political crisis in the state. Rawat also said the CD was just an offshoot of an unholy alliance between these people who had come together to destabilise a democratically-elected government and derail the process of development in the state.
