Bomb hoax at JFK Airport in New York forces evacuation
June 29, 2016
The New York Police evacuated a terminal at NY Citys John F Kennedy International Airport on Wednesday after a report of a suspicious package, the American media reported.
The JetBlue terminal at the airport, however, was re-opened hours later after the report was found to be a hoax.
Security was heightened at the airport in the wake of the bombing of Istanbuls airport.
A Port Authority spokesman said a suspicious package was found inside the terminal about 8.30 am local time. The terminal was evacuated -- and all surrounding roads were shut down.
A dispatched NYPD Bomb Squad determined that the contents in the bag were not explosives.
The terminal was reopened about 9.30 am, media reports said.
