Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi flew to Istanbul on Monday by Turkish Airlines, according to SPG sources. 

In a letter to the SPG chief he explained that the visit is personal and that he does not need SPG security in Istanbul. 

In all probability, Rahul is expected to return to India in early July.
