Modi, Afghan Prez Ghani jointly inaugurate Afghan-India Friendship Dam

After touching down in Afghanistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani made their way to  Gazi Amanullah Khan hall where they will be jointly inaugurating the Afghan-India Friendship Dam.

The Afghan-India Friendship Dam, earlier known as Salma dam, in western Herat district is built at a cost of over Rs 1,700 crore under India's development partnership with Afghanistan. The dam on the river Chist-e-Sharif will irrigate 75,000 hectares of land and generate 42 MW of power.
