Glare on President's role

Nobel laureate Amartya Sen today said that some Presidents appeared to exercise their judgement more than others when it came to acting on the government's advice. An interviewer had asked the economist about George Yeo resigning as chancellor of the Nalanda University, and Sen himself being earlier dropped from the varsity's board of governors. The NDTV 24x7 interviewer had cited the BJP's stand that the decisions had been taken by President Pranab Mukherjee in his capacity as the Visitor to the university. Read more
