Pakistan army chief sacks 12 officers for graft
April 21, 2016
Pakistan Army chief Gen Raheel Sharif on Thursday sacked 12 officers, including two generals, on charges of corruption. The unprecedented sackings came two days after Sharif called for "across-the-board accountability" to root out corruption from the country.

Among the officers who were dismissed were Lt Gen Obaidullah Khattak, a major general, five brigadiers, four colonels and a major. Sharif had waded into the Panama Papers leaks controversy on Tuesday, stressing the need for action against graft to ensure the country's prosperity.
