7/11 sentencing today, state may seek death for only 8 convicts

The Special MCOCA court which had convicted 12 persons in connection with the 7/11 blasts on Friday will deliver the quantum of sentence today.
The
prosecution may seek death sentence for eight of the 12 convicted in the
2006 blasts in Mumbai that had killed 189 and injured 817,
as seven bombs ripped through first-class compartments on seven trains
during peak hour commute, reports The Times of India.
The
maximum punishment is likely to be sought for all five planters and the
"more educated'' convicts including key conspirator Dr Tanveer Ansari,
Asif Khan Bashir Khan, a civil engineering diploma holder and Mohammed
Ali Shaikh, a Unani medicine seller. Sources tell the TOI that leniency maybe shown
for convicts who had slightly lesser role.
